Proposals

The proposal application deadline has been extended:

Proposal Submission Deadline (First Consideration): Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
Announcement of Accepted Proposals (First Consideration): Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
Final Proposal Deadline: Friday July 1, 2011. Proposals will be considered until this date.

 

General Information

Conference proposals will be put into three categories:

  1. Performances
  2. Masterclasses
  3. Lectures/Presentations

In order to submit a proposal, applicants must first register for the conference online.

 

There are no additional fees for participants to do presentations. However, participants’ programs are not considered finalized until their registration and payment is complete. 

 

Participants who are selected to perform a concert may bring the composer and an accompanist with no registration fee required, however these people must be registered with the presenter on the web site or during the conference at the conference Registration and Information Center.

 

Masterclasses or lecture/presentations may be given in any Asian language, however, English is encouraged. Translators will be available for events. A request can be made on the proposal registration page. All translation will be made to the English language. Proposals must be submitted in English.

 

Schedule

Proposal Submission Deadline (First Consideration): Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
Announcement of Accepted Proposals (First Consideration): Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
Final Proposal Deadline: Friday July 1, 2011. Proposals will be considered until this date.


Performances

Proposals will be considered for any type of double reed performance. This includes any combination of instruments, as well as any style of music. Preference will be given for traditional Asian folk double reed instruments. Students are encouraged to submit applications. There will be a special hall set up for student performances.

 

Masterclasses

Professional players and teachers are encouraged to submit a proposal to give a masterclass. Students will be assigned to play in masterclasses as the conference approaches.

 

Lectures/Presentations

Any type of lecture or presentation based on a double reed instrument will be considered. Priority will be given to the history/culture of double reeds in Asia, as well as the Asian fold double reed instruments.
